Notable Atheist: Ernest Hemingway

Image“All thinking men are atheists.”

“I was always embarrassed by the words sacred, glorious, and sacrifice…. I had seen nothing sacred, and the things that were glorious had no glory and the sacrifices were like the stockyards at Chicago if nothing was done with the meat except bury it. There were many words that you could not stand to hear and finally only the names of places had dignity.”

“Our nada who art in nada, nada be thy name. Thy kingdom nada, thy will be nada as it is in nada. Give us this nada our daily nada and nada us our nada as we nada our nadas and nada us into nada but deliver us from nada; pues nada. Hail nothing full of nothing, nothing is with thee.”

“I don’t teach children religion because I refuse to impart something that’s littered with doubt. Only give children certainty. Life will provide them with all the doubt they’ll ever need. I shouldn’t contribute to that.”

Christianity and Homophobia: Pastor Sean Harris

Pastor Sean Harris, a senior pastor at the Berean Baptist Church, is one of the many examples of homophobia in the Christian community.

Excerpts of his sermon:
Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see that son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give them a good punch. OK? You’re not going to act like that — you were made by God to be a male and you’re going to be a male.

And when your daughter starts acting too ‘butch,’ you rein her in. And you say, ‘Oh no. Oh no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play ‘em, play ‘em to the glory of God, but sometimes you’re going to act like a girl and talk like a girl and talk like a girl, and smell like a girl, and that means you’re going to be beautiful, you’re going to be attractive, you’re going to dress yourself up.

Here’s the audio clip: [http://www.goodasyou.org/player.swf]

After the sermon went viral on the internet, Pastor Harris, the homophobic hate-monger, is claiming he was only joking, would never even touch a child, “would never ever advocate” hitting a child, and says his parishioners — many of whom shouted “Amen!” when Harris said to punch a four-year old – know he would never advocate child abuse. Harris also claims there was ”not an ounce of hate being communicated” in his remarks in church on Sunday, focused on the evils of homosexuality in hopes of ensuring parishioners vote for North Carolina’s Amendment One, which would write anti-gay discrimination directly into the constitution, and would define as the only legal relationship a marriage between one man and one woman. Amendment One would also  immediately make domestic violence victims ineligible for protection orders and would even remove children from their unmarried parents’ health insurance.

However, being a man of god and faith, he defended his homophobia, saying,”If I had to say it again, I would say it differently, no doubt,” Harris said Tuesday. “Those weren’t planned words, but what I do stand by is that the word of God makes it clear that effeminate behaviour is ungodly. I’m not going to compromise on that.

Yes, folks, this is what they teach the sheeps at church. And let’s not be fooled by the hoards of moderate Christians who would claim that Pastor Sean Harris isn’t a true Christian. No, read the bible, that holy book is a hateful, homophobic, ancient scripture that does nothing but promote persecution and oppression.

Pastor Sean Harris is a man of god indeed, a man created in the image of god.

Religious authorities must be held responsible for promoting child abuse, this isn’t a LGBT rights issue, this is a human rights issue. The blanket of immunity the government give religious leaders must be removed for humanity to eradicate unfounded hate and persecution.

I lost my parents’ religion; I found rationality and Humanism.

Thank the Education

Common Christian Testimony: “I want to thank god for blessing me. He cured my sickness, he healed me. Thank you all for the prayers…”

No! Thank the doctor for being diligent at honing his skills as a medical professional. Thank the nurses for aiding the doctor and caring for you. Thank the hospital for providing the doctor the facilities to treat you. Thank the university the doctor graduated from; that’s where his specialized knowledge came from. Thank the influential Scientific figures who laid the foundation for modern medical science. Thank the factory that made the medical tools and equipment that were used in the process of treating you. Thank the chemists and the labour workers who made all the medication you were prescribed.

Thank the everyday heroes, not the intangible myth that resides only within the confines of your own delusions.

Take a good hard look, the common denominator in all of this is not god, but education. Every process of this gratitude, every individual and organization, stands on the rostrum of education. As John Dewey, philosopher and psychologist, once said: “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.

Reason Rally: The Power of Reason and People

On March 24th, 2012, Washington, D.C. hosted the world’s largest secular event. The Reason Rally is a movement-wide event sponsored by the country’s major secular organizations. The intent is to unify, energize, and embolden secular people nationwide, while dispelling the negative opinions held by a religiously-biased society.

Here are the two best quotes from the event, in my opinion.

Adam Savage, host of MythBusters:

“I have concluded through careful, empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me. Keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less then I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think and they still love me and I’ve concluded after careful consideration that this person keeping score is me.”

Richard Dawkins

“How is it conceivable that the laws of physics should conspire together without guidance, without direction, without any intelligence to bring us into the world? Now we do have intelligence. Intelligence comes into the world, comes into the universe late. It’s come into the world through our brains and maybe other brains in the universe. Now at last — finally — after 4 billion years of evolution we have the opportunity to bring some intelligent design into the world. We need intelligent design. We need to intelligently design our morals, our ethics, our politics, our society. We need to intelligently design the way we run our lives, not look back to scrolls — I was going to say ancient scrolls, they’re not even very ancient, about 800 BC the book of Genesis was written. I am often accused of expressing contempt and despising religious people. I don’t despise religious people; I despise what they stand for.”

Wildly off the ungodly path here, but here’s a personal music mix for the world to enjoy.

P.S. I was at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival over the last few days, hence the downtime on the site. I hope the wonderful tunes will serve as an apology.

Christopher Hitchens (1949 – 2011)

Christopher Eric Hitchens was a liberator of minds, a wordsmith that held his thoughts at the edge of a sword, and a combatant against the tyranny of religion. He taught us to never be silenced, regardless of how harsh it may be, and to always fight back with trenchant logic and rational.

Why He Hates Religion, But Loves Jesus

I have no idea how this video went viral over the last few days, but apparently, the world loves bullshit wrapped up in colourful paper with a ribbon on top. It’s a little catchy, with all the rhyming and whatnot, plus, the production work is higher than most YouTube videos. Also, the guy talking nonsense is not bad looking, I can see how Catholic priests would want to share some bodily fluids with him when he was 9 or 10 years old.

The context of this Religion versus Jesus is laughable. It’s a miserable attempt to distance the office of Jesus Christ and Christianity from the negativity of religion. Many brainless people would be conned into this mindset of Christ being above religion because this makes them feel empowered, stroking their Jesus cocks or fingering their Christ vaginas, as they lament on how they are free from the shackles of religion as their superior mind came to that conclusion.

Hold on, the core definition of religion is:

  1. The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.
  2. Details of belief as taught or discussed

And Christianity is defined as:

  1. The religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices.
  2.  A monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus as presented in canonical gospels and other New Testament writings.

I think this douche-bag has just been disparaged by a few dictionary definitions. But if you are small-minded and feeble, go ahead, feel empowered with yourself for being brave enough to denounce religion while still being a Christian; because anal sex is not sex.

A response video from TheAmazingAtheist that’s worth a watch.

Religion vs. Homosexuality

2 minutes of (mostly) religious idiots spewing nonsensical rubbish about homosexuality.

Homosexuality is not a “disease” or a “lifestyle choice” as these religious camels would like you to believe. Scientific and medical understanding is that sexual orientation is not a choice, but rather a complex interplay of biological and environmental factors. Research shows that homosexuality is an example of normal variation in human sexuality and not a source of negative psychological effects.

But hey, what has Science ever done for humanity right? Nothing! Science and evidence and research, it’s all a scam created by evil godless people. Praise the Lord; the imaginary, retarded one of course.

Anything But Idiots!

“Christians hate Atheists more than rapists.”

People fear what they can’t understand. They can understand rape, it’s a sexual thing. But with Atheism, even the slightest inclination that there’s no God scares their little minds. They are perfectly content with utilizing all the by-products of science in their daily lives, however, debunk their beliefs through the power of science, and every Bible-wielding rat turns into an extremist.

Anything but idiots, I say.
